Your Custom-Made Smile Program
Your Invisalign™ treatment starts with an examination and consultation with an experienced Invisalign™ provider. Dr. Swelstad has been recognized by Align Technologies as the leading provider of Invisalign™ treatment in our area. At the exam and consultation, Dr. Swelstad will discuss your treatment options and confirm whether your orthodontic problems can be corrected with the Invisalign™. He will develop a detailed customized treatment plan that determines how each of your aligners will change your teeth throughout your treatment. When you begin treatment, you'll be instructed to wear each set of aligners in approximately two-week increments. Sometimes, tiny tooth colored "speed bumps" may be temporarily attached to certain teeth to assist with specific tooth movements. The aligners will gently move your teeth into their new positions. At the end of each two-week period, you will "graduate" to the next set of custom aligners to continue your progress.
As you progress through your series of aligners, your teeth will begin moving, little by little. You don't have to wait until your treatment is completed to see your smile change—you may start seeing positive changes early in the process. Dr. Swelstad will continue occasional checkups with you—often as little as once every six or 10 weeks—in order to gauge your progress. At the end of your treatment, you'll be showing off a better smile!
Your Lifestyle. Your Schedule.
So how long will it take to finish your treatment? For most adults, treatment time is just under one year. Of course, your total treatment time depends greatly on your particular situation, so it's important to speak with Dr. Swelstad about your specific treatment plan with Invisalign™.
You're in control of your treatment's success. The more you wear your aligners, the faster and better your results will be. Dr. Swelstad recommends that you wear your Invisalign™ aligners 20-22 hours/day for predictable results. Essentially, wear them all the time but take them out to eat, drink, and brush your teeth. The more you wear your aligners, the better. You're on your way to the smile you've always dreamed of!
